Oscailt Oifigiúil an tseomra Ríomhaireachta

Bhí gliondar croí ar na daltaí nuair a gearradh an ribín an tseachtain seo caite chun an tseomra ríomhaireachta a oscailt go hoifigiúil. Ba mhaith linn ár mbuíochas ó chroí a ghabhailt le Múinteoir Sinéad Ní Mhurchadha as an obair dhian go leir atá déanta aici le ríomhairí na scoile sna seomraí ranga agus sa seomra ríomhaireachta le blianta beaga anuas. Is le dúthracht oibre a baineadh an buaic seo amach. Ní hé san amháin ach tá tionscnamh ar bun ag Sinéad  ina bhfuil  rang 6 i dteagmháil le daltaí rang 6 ó scoileanna eile i seomra caidrimh sábháilte tré Ghaoluinn agus  iad ag baint ana thaitneamh as.  Maith thú a Shinéad.  Míle buíochas.

Official Opening of our Computer Room

With pride and joy and palatable excitement our computer room was declared officially opened last week as the ribbon was cut. This achievement is the result of many hours of preparation and diligence by none other than Múinteoir Sinéad Ní Mhurchadha.  Sinéad has worked relentlessly in keeping us up to date with modern technology in our classrooms and now in our computer room. Sineád also has another project up and running in the school where by our sixth class pupils are in contact with sixth classes pupils from other schools in a secure chat room through the medium of Irish. Rang 6 are thoroughly enjoying the experience. Well done Sinéad and míle buíochas.

Comhbhrón: Jimmy Kiely ar shlí na fírinne

Ba mhian linn ár gcomhbhrón a chur in iúil do Helen Kiely agus a clann ar bhás Jimmy Kiely fear céile le Helen and athair le Angelene, Nicola, Wille John, Sarah agus Siobhán.   Fear uasail séimh a bhí i Jimmy a d'oibrigh go dian dícheallach mar thuismitheoir ar son na scoile ar mhaithe lena pháistí.  Tá cuimhní iontacha againn ar Jimmy anseo sa scoil.  Bhí croí ana mhór aige, fuinneamh dochreidthe agus bua na haclaíochta.  Dhein sé cinneadh maratón a rith ar son na scoile gan aige ach sé seachtain le hullmhú chuige agus chun críoch a chur ar an scéal rith sé an maratón céanna i 3uair a chloig agus breis leis. Is as na hiarrachtaí céanna a ceannaíodh an chéad ríomhaire don scoil. Ba mhaith linn comhbhrón a dhéanamh le máthair Jimmy Mrs. Kiely, a bhean céile Helen agus a pháistí Angelene, Nicola, Wille John, Sarah (Muinteoir Sorcha atá ag múineadh sa scoil linn faoi láthair) Siobhán agus an clann uilig ag an am fíor dheacair seo.   Is oth linn a mbris.

Sympathise: The passing of Jimmy Kiely

We would like to take this opportunity to sympathise with Helen Kiely  and her family on the passing of Helen's  husband Jimmy   and Angelene, Nicola, Wille John, Sarah and Siobhán's Dad. Jimmy was a gentleman who gave whole heartedly to the school for the good of his children. We have great memories of Jimmy here in Scoil Gharbháin. He had a heart of gold, an abundance of energy and a talent for all sports. He at one point made a decision to run a marathon to raise funds for the school six weeks before the marathon and he ran the same marathon in over 3 hours.  As a result Jimmy raised funds for the first computer in Scoil Gharbháin. He gave us wonderful support in training the girls and boys in the Gaelic games and with his green fingers helped us in the school garden as well. We sympathise with his mother Mrs Kiely, his wife Helen and his children Angelene, Nicola, Willie John, Sarah (Muinteoir Sorcha who is teaching with us at present),  Siobhán and his extended family at this extremely difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.
