Corn Greg Fives

Tá sceitimíní áthais ar na páistí faoi láthair agus tá an iomaíocht idir na fóirne ag dul i dtreis sa Sraith Iománaíochta Scoile .  Tá cúis speisialta leis an iomaíocht breise i mbliana.  Is mór an onóir agus cúis bróid go gcuirimíd in iúl daoibh go mbeidh teideal nua againn ar an sraith iomanaíochta scoile i mbliana agus coíche. 'Corn Greg Fives' atá mar ainm ar an gcomórtas anois. Tugann sé seo seans dúinne, le bród, aitheantas a thabhairt do Ghreg agus do Mharie as an tacaíocht a thug siad dúinn ó thús ama i gcúrsaí spóirt ach go háirithe.

Ba mhór an chúis bróid agus an onóir don Scoil le deanaí nuair a bhronn Marie, Mícheál, Deaglán agus Marc, corn breá ar an scoil a bheidh mar dhuais go bliantiúil don fhoireann a bhuafaidh  'Corn Greg Fives'. Tá na páistí ar bís ag iarraidh an corn a bhuachaint. Míle buíochas le Muintir Mac Fíbhís.

The Greg Fives Cup

Excitement is palpable and the rivalry between teams is heightening as the School hurling league is under way. This year however there is a special reason and an added incentive for the rivalry. We are honoured and proud to inform you that for this year and for all future years our school hurling league will now be known as 'Corn Greg Fives', the Greg Fives Cup. This allows us the opportunity to give recognition to the years of support that Greg and Marie have given to us here in Scoil Gharbháin, especially from a sporting point of view. We were honoured and proud recently when Marie, Mícheál, Déaglán and Marc presented Scoil Gharbháin with a beautiful cup which will be presented annually to the winning Captain. Míle buíochas to the Fives Family.

Céilí sa Chlós

We all thoroughly enjoyed Seachtain na Gaeilge.  We had great fun and craic on the Wednesday before St. Patrick's Day at our Annual Céili in the clós. The beautiful sunny day certainly added to the occasion. We are very grateful to Muinteoir Muireann for organising the event, for getting us all involved as Muireann also took on the role of Master of Ceremonies. Our winners in the statue dance on the day were: Lúcás ó Maolfhabhail and Ailbhe Ní Sheanlaoich, Kaylum Ó hÓgáin and Róisín Ní Churraoidhín, Alison Breathnach and Donncha Ó Súilleabháin, Caoimhe de Paor and Lucy Pléimeann.  A big thank you to Máire  Ní Chadhla, our sound technician and to Sarah Nic Craith who taught the children the céilí dances beforehand.

Table Quiz in the Local Bar

Múinteoir Muireann, Múinteoir Rónán and a blast from the past, a teacher in Scoil Gharbháin in times gone by, Mac Dara Mac Donncha took part in the Seachtain na Gaeilge Table Quiz in the Local Bar and  won the competition on the night. Múinteoir Lorcán, Múinteoir Onra and Gráinne Enright a sister of Múinteoir Onra also took part in the competition and came home with third prize. Míle buíochas le Múinteoir Barra and his team for their support on the night. Congratulations to all involved and well done.

A Visit to St. Mary's Primary School by Rang 5

Rang 5 and Múinteoir Rónán greatly appreciated the invitation they received from Ms. Veale and 5th class in St. Mary's Primary School to participate in a Table Quiz through Irish. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and some of our pupils were delighted to return to school with an easter egg in tow. A big thank you to Ms. Veale and to 5th class in St. Marys Primary School for their invitation and to Gaelscoileanna for all their support.
