Lá na Leabhar ar fud an Domhain

World Book Day

Ce mise? Cé mise? An frása a bhí le cloisint sa chlós ar an Déardaoin seo chaite nuair a tháinig na páistí ar scoil gléasta mar an carachtar ab fhearr leo as leabhar a bhí léite acu. Bhí samhlaíocht iontach le feiscint agus na páistí ag tabhairt faoin tionscnamh. Bhaineadar an thaitneamh as agus comhgháirdeachas leis na daltaí as duais a bhuachaint sa chomórtas. Míle buíochas le Pat Whyte ó Easons as a chuid tacaíochta ar an lá.

Who am I? Who am I? was the only phrase to be heard in the school yard on Thursday last when the children arrived into the school yard dressed as their favourite character from a story book they had read. It was fantastic to see the children's imagination at work as they tackled this project with enthusiasm. They thoroughly enjoyed the day and congratulations to our winners. We appreciated the support from Pat Whyte of Easons on the day.

Coineartú

Tá rang a 6 agus Múinteoir Jen fíor ghnóthach faoi láthair ag ullmhú don Choineartú. Beidh na daltaí ag dul  faoi lámh an Easpaig Liam ó Laoi ar an Aoine seo chugainn an 9ú lá den mhí seo sa séipeál i nDún na Mainistreach i dteannta Scoil Náisiúnta an Gharranbáin. Tá glór álainn binn le cloisint ag teacht ó sheomra le Múinteoir Muireann agus iad ag  canadh mar chleachadh don choir.  Ár mbuíochas le Múinteoir Jen agus leis an Athair Flor ó Callaghan a chabhraigh le Rang 6 ina gcuid ullmhúcháin don sacraimint fíor thábhachtach seo. Bhí ár gcara an tAthair Ó Domhnaill inár gcuid smaointí an tseachtain seo caite agus an sacraimint seo ag druidim linn. Guímíd gach rath ar Rang 6 agus an sacraimint tábhachtach seo á ghlacadh acu.

Confirmation

Múinteoir Jen and Rang 6 are extremely busy at present with their preparations for the Ceremony of Confirmation. They children will receive the sacrament of Confirmation from the Bishop William Lee with the pupils from Garranbane National School on Friday the 9th of March in St. Augustine's Church in Abbeyside.  Beautiful voices and melodies are to be heard coming from Múinteoir Muireann's classroom as the choir prepares for the occasion.  We are very grateful  to Múinteoir Jen with a big helping hand from Fr. Flor O'Callaghan in preparing the children for this important sacrament. Our friend Fr. O'Donnell was in our thoughts last week as the date for this sacrament approached us. Rang 6 will be in our thoughts as they receive this important sacrament.

Céilí Mór

Ní gá dul chun River Dance' a fheiscint bhí 'Riverdance' againn anseo sa chlós ar an Déardaoin seo chaite chun Seachtain na Gaeilge a chéiliúradh. Ní Michael Flatley amháin a bhí againn ach breis 's céad. Bhain na páistí an-thaitneamh as an spraoi agus as an rince a chur críoch iontach le seachtain na Gaoluinne. Is ócáid bhliantúil é anois agus ár mbuíochas ó chroí le Múinteoir Muireann. Ní amháin gur eagraigh sí an imeacht dhein sí cleachtadh ar na rincí le gach rang agus a chruthaigh Muireann atmaisféar iontach inár measc mar Mháistreás na searmanas mar is ghnáth. Buíochas chomh maith le Múinteoir Máire an teicneoir fuaime. Bíonn iomaíocht do chreidthe gach bliain nuair a thosnaíonn an Rinnce Deilbhe agus comhgháirdeachas leis na buaiteoirí.

Cancel your tickets for 'Riverdance' we had 'Riverdance' here in the yard on Thursday last to celebrate 'Seachtain na Gaeilge'. We had at least a hundred Michael Flatleys. The children thoroughly enjoyed the fun and dancing which brought Seachtain na Gaoluinne to an enjoyable close. This has now become an annual event thanks to Múinteoir Muireann. Muireann organised the event and she also practiced the 'Céilí dances with the classes and she created a wonderful atmosphere amongst us as usual.  A big thank you to Máire Ní Chadhla our sound technician. Competition was at a all time high as the statue dance began and congratulations to our winners.

Tráth na gCeist Boird tré Ghaeilge

Ba mhaith linn ár mbuíochas ó chroí a ghabhailt leis na scoileanna áitiúla a thug tacaíocht dúinn an imeacht seo a chur ar bun don chéad uair riamh ar son Seachtain na Gaeilge. We would like to thank all our local schools and their parents who supported us with this event for the first time. We were overjoyed to see the attendance on the night.  Thanks to you it was a resounding success. Praise is well deserved by all the pupils from the Local Schools who attended this Quiz. The standard was very high and the children were very competitive. Míle buíochas to all the staff here in Scoil Gharbháin and to rang 5 and rang 6 for all their efforts in organising the event and to Coiste na dTuismitheoirí for organising our spot prizes. We are extremely grateful to 'Gaelscoileanna' who generously sponsored  this event. We have decided to make this an annual event and we're going to include Rang 3 and Rang 4 next year and that's a definite date for the diary. Congratulations to our winners.

Seachtain Cheilteach agus Banc na hÉireann

Ba mhaith linn ár mbuíochas a ghabhailt le Banc na hÉireann i nDúngarbhán as an gcuireadh a thug siad dúinn a bheith páirteach i Seachtain na gCeilteach i mbliana agus as an bhfáilte 's fiche a chuireadar romhainn. Chaith Múinteoir Máire agus Múinteoir Muireann agus na páistí an tseachtain ag cleachtadh agus ag ullmhú don ócáid. Bhí maidin iontach againn sa bhanc ag seinnt ceoil idir boscaí ceoil, veidhlíní, banjos, bodhráin agus feadóga stáin. Ba bhreá an rud é an ceol iontach a chloisint. Chasadar na hamhráin agus Múinteoir Máire á stiúriú ar an ngiotar agus dheineadar droichead Áth Luain a thaispeáint dóibh agus Múinteoir Múireann á stiúriú. Bhíomar ana bhródúil go deo astu. Ár mbuíochas leo agus le tuismitheoirí na scoile a tháinig chun tacaíocht a thabhairt dúinn.

Celtic Week in Bank of Ireland

We would like to thank Bank of Ireland for the invitation they extended to us to be part of Celtic Week and for the warm welcome we received in the bank on Friday morning last.  Múinteoir Máire and Múinteoir Muireann spent the week practicing and preparing the children for the occasion. We had a most enjoyable morning in the bank playing music on accordions, concertinas, violins, banjos, bodhráin and tin whistles it was fabulous to hear. The children sang accompanied by Múinteoir Máire and gave the customers a display of ceili dancing the 'Bridge of Athlone' under the guidance of Múinteoir Muireann. We were very proud of them. A big thank you to our parents who came to support us, it was much appreciated.
