Lá na gCrann

Chuaigh Naíonáin Bheaga agus Naíonáin Mhóra i dteannta le Múinteoir Siobhán agus Múinteoir Hilda ar eachtra ar an Déardaoin seo caite ag scrúdú na gcrann a bhí mór thimpeall orainn. Is isteach béal dorais a chuadar. Dheineadar iontas de airde na gcrann.

Chuireadar toirt na gcrann i gcompráid lena chéile. Dheineadar scrúdú ar coirt na gcrann agus na héagsúlachtaí a bhíonn eatarthu agus thugadar páipéar agus crian leo chun cuimilt a dhéanamh ar stoc na gcrann. Fuaireadar poll i gcrann agus tá siad lán cinnte gur ann a bheidh an t-iora rua ag geimhriú. Ár mbuíochas le Coláiste Aibhistín a chuireann na háiseanna iontacha ar fail dúinn ó cheann ceann na bliana.

National Tree Day

On Thursday last Naíonáin Mhóra and Naíonáin Bheaga headed off on an adventure accompanied by Múinteoir Hilda and Múinteoir Siobhán to study the trees in the vicinity. Their journey took them in to the college grounds next door. The children were in awe of the height of the trees and they compared the width of the different varieties of trees.

They examined the bark in detail and thoroughly enjoyed the results of the crayon rubbings of the tree barks. They discovered a hole in a tree and are convinced that they have discovered the home of a squirrel for winter hibernation. A big thank you to St. Augustines' College for the facilities which are at our disposal on an annual basis.

Rang 6 ar Cuairt i nDúngarbhán

Bhain Rang 6 ana thaitneamh go deo as an turas a thugadar ar an mbaile mór i dteannta le Múinteoir Jen le deanaí. I dtosach is an iarsmalann a bhí a dtriall. Chuireadar ana shuim sna huirlisí a bhí ag na lochlannaigh. Ina dhiaidh san thug garraiodóirí na todhchaí le na méaranna glasa cuairt ar ghairdín an tannery. Labhair Mike an garraíodóir agus  úinéir an bhialann  Marie Flynn leo  agus chuireadar comhairle orthu maidir le glasraí a fhás.  Ár mbuíochas leo araon.
Cuireadh deireadh leis an gcuairt le turas ar an gCaisléan Normannach agus ghluaiseadar trí na haoiseanna le cabhair iontach ó Mháire de Paor a labhair leo le linn an chuairt. Míle buíochas a Mháire.
Tá siad ag tnúth go mór cheana féin le cuairt a thabhairt ar áit stairiúil eile sa chontae. Maith sibh Rang 6 agus Múinteoir Jen.

Rang 6 visit Dungarvan

Rang 6 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the town recently accompanied by Múinteoir Jen. Their first port of call was Dungarvan's Museum where the utensils used by the Vikings captured their interest. Following on, our future gardeners with their green fingers visited The Tannery's vegetable garden. Mike the gardener and proprietor Marie Flynn advised the pupils on how to successfully grow and maintain the vegetable garden. A big thank you to Mike and Marie. The journey was completed by a visit to our local Norman Castle where the children travelled through the ages with the help of Máire de Paor their tour guide. Máire's vast knowledge was greatly appreciated by the children. Well done to rang 6 and Múinteoir Jen.
